The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa announces appointment of Peter Walker as General Manager

The renowned luxury five-star hotel in Aberdeen, The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa has appointed Peter Walker as the new General Manager. 

With over twenty-five years of experience in the hospitality industry, Peter Walker brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for excellence to this iconic establishment.

Peter has a distinguished career, having worked at some of Scotland’s most recognised hotels. Most recently, Peter served as General Manager of Fonab Castle Hotel and Spa. Prior to that, he spent over five years at Maryculter House in Aberdeen, where he delivered outstanding results. His career also includes successful tenures at Ardoe House and Meldrum Country House Hotel & Golf Club, where he was instrumental in repositioning the hotels to enhance their market position.

Notably, Peter is no stranger to The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa. From March 2005 to May 2009, he served as Assistant General Manager under the previous owner, Stewart Spence. Peter holds fond memories of his time at The Marcliffe and is delighted to return, stating: "There is something truly special about The Marcliffe. I was married here in 2007 and completed my first training course at the hotel at the age of 15, when I first showed as interest in hospitality at school. It is an honour to come back to a place I hold in such high regard, and I am extremely excited about the future. The hotel has such huge potential, and with the backing of Balmoral Group, it’s an exciting time for the Marcliffe, and I look forward to welcoming guests, new and old.”

Sir Jim Milne, Chairman of Balmoral Group, the current owners of The Marcliffe, expressed his confidence in Peter’s leadership, stating: "We are delighted to finally announce Peter as our General Manager.
